All You Can Eat Hot Pot Restaurants in Singapore

Hot pot, also known as steamboat, is a simple way of cooking ingredients in a boiling pot of soup stock. Almost any food ingredients can be prepared in a hot pot. Different kinds of meats, seafood, vegetables, eggs, mushrooms and noodles……..to just name a few.

Why is it so popular in Singapore and in other Asian countries? For one thing, there’s something comforting about sitting in front of a pot of boiling while ingredients are being cooked and a cloud of steam rises. In Asian countries, hot pot is one of the popular sharing foods enjoyed with friends and family in a gathering.

Singapore is a melting pot of culture and diverse cuisine. That said, there are many hot pot restaurants offering different versions of hot pot. Some restaurants are so popular the wait time at one of them I went to was 3 hours! (I didn’t eat there and found another place that was really good)

There is a myriad of hot pot restaurants in Singapore. A Japanese style hot pot restaurant and a Chinese conveyor belt hot pot restaurant were the notables on this trip (They are both all- you-can-eat).

Gyu Jin is a Japanese restaurant offering Shabu Shabu (Japanese hot pot) and Sukiyaki in an all you can eat buffet setting. Sukiyaki is a different type of dish; Thinly sliced beef and other ingredients are cooked in a pot and seasoned with soy sauce and sugar and eaten dipped in a raw egg.

With Shabu Shabu here, you choose two different soup stocks (dashi) out of seven. Then choose a set course (buffet included) - different kinds of meat and quality of meat (wagyu, angus beef, pork) determines the price.

Their buffet section is impressive with over 20 varieties of fresh vegetables, noodles, condiments and customizable dipping sauces.

If you want a reasonably priced hot pot in a good ambience then go to this Chinese conveyor belt hot pot restaurant. It’s all you can eat for 90 minutes and the ingredients are fresh. I was impressed with the variety - different kinds of meats, meatballs, organs, dumplings, all kinds of seafood, vegetables and noodles. It’s a fun hot pot experience grabbing the ingredients passing in front of you on a conveyor belt and throwing them into your boiling soup pot.

There are 10 different soup bases to choose from. You can select one or two. This restaurant also has a buffet section with foods such as salads, dim sum, rice, crab, chicken…..and many kinds of dipping sauces and condiments.

There are a few tables for bigger groups though most of the seats are counter seats. You get the best experience out of sitting at the counter seats!

The staff here are very helpful and friendly - making the food and experience twice as enjoyable.
