My husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in Vietnam in a few days.  It is going to be our first visiting the country which has changed so much since the war.

I always have the urge to explore the new and unknown in my travels, I'm looking forward to seeing, feeling and tasting their culture.

Planning the trip has been exciting….

There are a few other things to keep in mind before going.

Most importantly; Don't  forget your passport!

1, Plan your visit at least 2-3 weeks in advance.  If you are an American citizen like me, you need a visa.  It takes about 3-4 business days for your visa request letter approval.  There may be mistakes on the letter to be corrected so allow a few extra days.  Visa requirements are different depending on your nationality and needs to be verified with the immigration authority.

2, Shop around for best deals in airline tickets.  I like CheapOair.  Same goes for lodging; Look for daily deals such as breakfast included with Booking.com.

3, If you have pets, make boarding arrangements for them in advance.  Their vaccinations need to be up to date.

4, It's always good to have some cash handy especially when visiting small cities and towns like Hoi An and Hue and shopping at local markets.

5, The best time to visit is from October to the end of March.  April to September is monsoon season.

6, The temperatures average from 21c to 30c and it can get pretty hot so pack accordingly.

7, Enjoy your trip!
