I switched from the previous model Kinvara 6 to 7 a few month ago. I’ve noticed a lot of difference in heel cushioning in the latest model, thanks this piece of material called EVERRUN. Transitioning from wearing 6, 7 felt a bit too soft at first but after running several miles in them, I started to appreciate the added cushioning. They’ve made the upper more light and flexible and changed the outsole design significantly with the new model. As you can see in the picture, the outsole has a smoother design and you can definitely feel the difference wearing them. Another change I’ve noticed in them is the wider forefoot for more toe room. The new Kinvara 7 is as light as ever weighing at 6.6 ounces for women’s and 7.7 ounces for men’s with the same 4mm heel to toe drop.
It’s been a struggle for me to find the right shoes for the last few years. Especially after I had bad foot fracture last year and secondary injury after that. I’m small framed ( 5’4 and 102 pounds ) with high arch and I need shoes that provide enough cushion while still being lightweight. I’ve run about 300-400 miles in the new Kinvaras and they seem to work out for me right now. But as I mentioned earlier, They could stand to be a little firmer since I like the feel of the ground under my feet.
