I ran a 5k this morning.  It was one of my worst 5ks ever.  I woke up with a sore right arm.  I have no idea what I did to it and didn’t know if I was going to be able to drive 30 min. to the run.  Fortunately it got better  when I got to the run and started warming up.  It was a little uncomfortable running with that arm.  It was hot and humid this morning and I felt like a turtle.  I got a long way to get my speed back on the track.  I felt more distracted than usual during the run this morning.  Your mental state affects so much of your running and health.  My mental state is bad lately.  I worry about a lot of things.  I worry about money, my daughter, son, etc……  At least when I’m running hard, I cannot think a whole lot about anything.
After I run a 5k, I usually run another 3 mi.  It makes my legs feel better running at an easier pace after the race.  Today I felt so slow so after another 3 mi., I did some sprinting.
I wonder how many 5ks I’ve run in total?  It would be hard to be exact but I’m guessing about 100+.

At a 5K Run So Many Years Ago

I have slowed down.  I remember the very first 5k my kids ran.  They were about 9 and 10.  My daughter was really upset her daddy wouldn’t let her stop at water stops.  My kids used to run with me until they got a lot faster than I.
Well my mileage has met the goal this week at least.  I’ve put in about 42 mi. total.  Tomorrow is rest and Monday is 20-21 mi.
